The Fitting
Once you have chosen the dress of your dreams, order it as soon as you can. At least 6 months are needed to make it and perform the various fittings (an average of 3).
We advise you to wear the underwear and shoes you will wear on your Wedding day when you have your fittings. It will enable your seamstress to fit your dress perfectly and for you to see how your dress will look on the day.
The Underwear
Do not worry - whatever the shape or neckline of your dress, you will be able to find suitable underwear.
To give better support to your bustline, we advise a strapless or boned bra. Some of these bras have pads but these can be removed.
It's a good idea to match your underwear with the colour of your dress, but this is not critical.
For those who have chosen a deep neckline at the back, you will need to adopt underwear with plunging backs. If your dress has straps or sleeves, the standard bra with straps remains the best option for keeping a nicely shaped bustline. To avoid your straps slipping or showing, ask the seamstress to put bra loops inside the shoulders of your dress.
The Train
You are dreaming of a long train but is it really convenient?
Do not worry, there are ways of dealing with it. We can design your dress with a detachable train - you can take it off after the ceremony if you wish.
Another way to manage the train is to have a button and invisible fastener, so you can loop up the train. This creates a pulling up of the train at the back of the dress and at the same time keeps the shape of the full skirts.
Climbing Steps
The trick is to lift the skirt and underskirt at the sides at the same time. If your underskirt has hoops, it is easier, you just catch hold of the hoop which is over your knees and lift it slightly.
Take care to catch hold of all the layers of the dress so as not to show the lining or the underskirt.
Style to fit your figure
You can decide to match the style of your dress to the wedding you wish : pastoral, traditional, intimate. But the most important point is to find the style which fits best your figure and your personality.
If you are slim and slender...
It is best to choose a full skirt and a boat neck or a sleeveless bodice. That way you will reduce the length of your body. Avoid the empire style dress with its high waist, as this will only emphasize it.
If you are smallbusted but have strong hips...
A sexy low neckline and a pronounced waist will emphasize your bust, whereas a full, generous or trapezoid skirt will disguise your curviness.
If you are rather voluptuous...
You must emphasize your beautiful women's curves and try to hide your small imperfections.
An empire-shaped dress (high waist) or a trapezoid shaped skirt will enable you to lengthen your figure. A deep low neckline and a "V" waist will be your best assets, whereas puffed sleeves must be avoided.
If you are short...
A sheath dress or a dress made up with a short bodice and an "A" line skirt will enhance your figure. We would especially recommend a halter neckline or strapless bodice. Avoid a long train, a "V" waist or a skirt too full as these could unbalance your figure.
What color?
White and ivory in all their shades still remain the prevailing colour for brides.
For a theatrical effect, dare to choose a fully-coloured dress that matches your complexion and your taste. Choose powerful colours like burgundy, red or gold - or pastels such as pink or sky-blue.
